Kaitlyn McMillian, FNP-C
Co Owner/Co Founder, is a native Georgian, and she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia. She began working at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in the Emergency Department where she was able to serve one of our most vulnerable populations in their time of critical need. From her time in the ED, she desired to serve her patients in a bigger way, so she began to pursue her Master’s of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner through United States University in San Diego, California. During her studies, she continued to work in the ED but also worked PRN on the inpatient rehabilitation floor at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia where she provided nursing care to patients who have suffered from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, and along with other medical conditions lending toward reduced mobility, cognition, and memory.
Upon graduating with her MSN-FNP, Kaitlyn worked in primary care before accepting a position within a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinic where she provided extended care for patients who had been discharged from Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s inpatient rehab unit. She loved working with this specific patient population; however, her chapter came to a close after welcoming her first child into the world. Spending time with family is a very integral part of who Kaitlyn is, but she is also driven to continue serving vulnerable patient populations. She accepted a telehealth position as a nurse practitioner and medical director role in the specialty of behavioral health for personal injury clients. While in this position, Kaitlyn found that mental health is the center for overall wellbeing and, when it is compromised, it can affect physical health. Unfortunately, working in personal injury did not allow her to continue care with clients after case settlement, and continuity of care is something that Kaitlyn finds important to maximize client rapport and compliance. At Think Joy, she is able to partner with her clients during their most critical time but also maintain continuity of care to ensure the progression of mental health recovery. She is very excited to work alongside of you and truly believes that Joyful Minds create Radiant Lives.
